Privacy Policy

Better Portion LLC ("Better Portion," "we," "us") builds and runs software for Christian ministries. We take the stewardship of your information as seriously as we'd want you to take ours. This policy covers our website, betterportion.org, and explains how our role differs across the software we provide.

Our two roles

DonorCRM is our product. Organizations subscribe to DonorCRM to manage their donors. Each organization decides what donor information to put in it and is responsible for it; we process it only on their behalf. Our DonorCRM Privacy Notice explains what DonorCRM collects about the staff who use it, and lists the service providers it relies on.

We build and run apps for ministries. For example, the SPO Missionary App for Saint Paul's Outreach, Gopher Catholic for St. Lawrence Catholic Church & Newman Center, and Archdiocesan Small Groups for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The ministry owns each app and the information in it, and its privacy policy, linked inside the app, governs that information. We handle it only to build, run, and support the app, under our agreement with the ministry.

What we collect on this website

  • Contact form: your name, email address, organization, whether you're open to a call, and your message. It is emailed to us and not stored on the website.
  • Email updates: if you sign up for new posts, your email address is sent to our inbox the same way. We keep the list of subscribers ourselves.
  • Scheduling: our contact page embeds Cal.com. If you book a call, Cal.com collects what you enter under its own privacy policy, and it may set its own cookies.
  • Basic visit data: like any website, our host (Vercel) receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page, and keeps them briefly in its logs.

We don't use analytics or advertising trackers, and we don't set cookies of our own. Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your own browser.

How we use it

We use what you send us to reply to you, to schedule a conversation if you ask for one, and, if you subscribed, to send you new posts. We do not sell your information or share it for advertising.

Service providers for this website

  • Vercel hosts the site.
  • Resend delivers contact-form messages to us.
  • Cal.com runs scheduling.
  • GitHub stores the site's content. It does not receive visitor data.

Your choices

  • To stop receiving posts, reply to any of them with "unsubscribe," or email us, and we'll take you off the list.
  • To see, correct, or delete what we hold about you, email us.
  • If you are asking about data in a ministry's app, or in DonorCRM, we'll help you reach the organization responsible for it. They make decisions about their data.

Keeping information

We keep contact messages and subscriber addresses only as long as we need them to talk with you, and delete them when you ask.

Children

Our website is for ministry leaders. We do not knowingly collect, track, or keep information about anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we delete it promptly.

We'll post any changes here and update the date above.
